Brisbane and Steve Irwin Zoo, Crikey!

We arrived in Brisbane at around 8pm and took a train to the Soho Motel in the city centre. We were wrecked after all the sightseeing* in Melbourne (*pubs), so we went to the shop and stocked up on sweets and sausage rolls (40-20's, they are the new crisps) and had an early night.

The next day, we wandered around the lovely city and had some lunch by the river in a place called Jade Buddha. They were having a Sunday BBQ and it was lovely and really good value. Our budget wasn't going to great since we got to Oz. It's verrrry pricey so we had to be careful so we'd be able to eat when we got to Canada.

Apple head again...

We had a lovely day exploring the city and Southbank. We took it easy that evening and went to a little chocolateria (when we heard this word first our mouthes wee wee'd water). These are chocolate cafes that are really popular in Brisbane, they're everywhere so we were very curious about them. Brian got a peanut butter hot chocolate thing and we got a few truffles, one had chilli in it and was weird, horrible and nice at the same time.

We went to see Ironman 3 that night in Southbank. Brian was too cool for the 3D glasses so kept his Ray Ban's on instead. It was great to do something really normal, we felt as though we were at the flicks in the UCI in Blanch.

That night, we walked home over Goodwill Bridge and saw some more sights. Brisbane is gorgeous and there is no litter or mess anywhere.

Caff still doing a great job of the photography. Sure no-one is interested in seeing the whole building anyhow...

We only saw one bit of graffiti below, but we forgave the graffiti artists as they were so friendly.

The next day we went to visit Steve Irwin's zoo. It was one of my favourite parts of Australia! The animals were amazing and were treated really well and had loads of space to live in and the staff loved them. They have a hospital next door that takes in injured animals from the bush and rehabilitates them.

What's that Skip? More roo food? Sure!

I took this one as a souvenir. They won't even miss him, stick him in the backpack.

We had an amazing day, the animals were gas and we got to hang around with lots of them. My favourite were the kangaroos, they were so friendly and loved a pet and a little snack.

That night we went to JoJo's, a cool little restaurant that's sort of famous in Brizzy for really cheap but lovely food. It was a nice way to finish off our time in the gorgeous city of Brisbane. The next day we took the bus to Surfers Paradise for the next part of our Aussie adventure!
